Morrin

The first new elevator was built in Morrin in 1913 by the National Grain Company.  It ran as a National until 1977 when it was taken over by Cargill Grain Co. Ltd.  In 1994 Cargill closed its doors.

The second new elevator was built by the Alberta Farmers Co-operative Elevator Co. in 1915.  It was taken over by United Grain Growers in 1917 and ran as a UGG until 1989 when it closed.

The third new elevator was built in 1918 by the Anderson Grain Co.  In 1920 Minett & Phillips took over the elevator.  In 1921 it changed hands again and became Wolfe Elevator Company.  Pioneer Grain then took over from Wolfe Elevator Co. in 1927 and ran as a Pioneer until 1978 when it closed.

Home Grain Company built the fourth new elevator in Morrin in 1920.  Home was taken over in 1929 by the Searle Grain Co. Ltd.   In 1967 United Grain Growers took charge and ran the elevator until it closed in 1999.

The fifth new elevator was built by the Alberta Pool Elevator in 1927.  The name was changed to AWP in 1930.  This elevator ran as an AWP until 1998 when it was taken over by UGG .  United Grain Growers closed its doors in 1999.

There are no elevators left standing in Morrin.
